HOW IT WORKS
At Riley Tutoring, every student’s journey begins with a personal touch. Founder Lauren Riley personally takes every phone call and responds to every email, ensuring each enquiry is handled with genuine care and attention. She also interviews every tutor herself, which allows Lauren to ensure each student is thoughtfully matched with the right tutor for their individual learning requirements, whether they need help catching up, stretching ahead, rebuilding confidence or improving their exam technique.
Riley Tutoring offers a bespoke, hands-on service where care, communication, and quality come first. From your first inquiry to your last lesson, Lauren is involved every step of the way to make sure students receive the best possible learning support. Lauren is always on hand to help with questions, scheduling or payments, ensuring that every part of the tutoring experience is smooth and stress-free.
1. Initial Consultation

Lauren Riley will reach out by phone or email to gather key details to help match the student with the most suitable tutor.
We’ll ask about:
- The subject(s) the student needs help with and their year group
- Exam board (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, etc) and tier (Foundation or Higher)
- Working at grade, target grade, and/or predicted grade
- Availability — which days and times could work for tuition (our tutors offer sessions after school and at weekends)
- Any other preferences regarding the tutor (e.g. teaching style, personality fit, experience level)
2. Tutor Matching & Introductory Meeting

Within 48 hours, Lauren will be back in touch with a tutor recommendation who best matches the student’s profile.
We’ll then arrange a free 15 minute introductory meeting between the tutor, student and parent.
During this meeting, the tutor will:
- Review the student’s current abilities and learning goals to understand exactly where support is needed.
- Identify key topics or skills to focus on, ensuring lessons are targeted and effective.
- Discuss setting weekly homework to reinforce learning and make sure each lesson is fully consolidated.
3. Starting Lessons

After the introductory meeting, if both the student and parent are happy to go ahead, we’ll schedule the first full lesson.
Lauren personally follows up after the first session to check in, gather feedback, and make sure everything feels like the perfect fit.
What to expect after each lesson:
- Personalised homework tailored to reinforce what was covered in the lesson and help the student make steady progress.
- A detailed lesson report sent via email, summarising what was covered, highlighting achievements and noting any areas that may need further work.
